Drought 2024 - April 2024
Dwellingup, Western Australia
On a foggy morning in 2024 some parts of Western Australia had been in a long and terrible drought. We lost more trees over that summer/autumn than in living memory. Some trees gave up after too much dry for too many months. This tree was on the edge of an old bauxite strip mine. The smaller trees at the bottom of the image are replanted trees. So I imagine this jarrah survived being more exposed for years, but not past drought 2024.

‘Sunset Through the Western Stirlings’
This photo was taken from Mt Trio looking over the western Stirlings. The very windy conditions made for an ever changing light show, with rays shinning over the peaks.
'Bluff Knoll Cloud'
It is an amazing experience seeing cloud pour over the Stirling Ranges as moist air that blows in from the south. It pushes up and over the peaks falling down their faces to the north. Being up over 1000m at sunrise with this could streaming towards you and then down the peak faces beneath your feet is a truly wonder experience.
